Dosa

A beloved street food snack.

Dosa originates from Southern India and is made with rice and lentils. Dosas are huge thin crepes served with various chutneys as an appetizer or stuffed vegetables and spices, such as spiced potatoes as a street food snack. There is a story that a Brahmin or Brahman cook wanted to rebel against his religious beliefs by making his own alcohol by fermenting rice because he was not allowed to access any. However, in doing so, his concoction did not work, so he decided to pour the batter into a pan and fry it which is how the dosa was born.
