Naan

A delicious bread to have with any meal!

Naan originated from the yeast that was brought to India from Egypt; it is a flatbread that is cooked in tandoor. It is a soft, buttery bread that is often ate with other foods, like masalas to soak up the sauce. In the 1520s during the Mughal era in India, naan was a luxury and only eaten by nobles and royal families because the recipe and technique of making naan was only known by few. In 1799, William Tooke, a historian and clergyman, brought the naan recipe to the Western countries.
