Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus

Mumbai's main railway station.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, originally known as Victoria Terminus, (well-referred as V.T.) is the main railway station in Mumbai, India. It was built from 1878-1887 and is the headquarters of Central Railway System. Even though the site gives a welcoming first impression of the city, it is not a typical design of Indian architecture. The architectural design was inspired by the British Empire. Frederick Williams Steven, the English architect of the famous railway station, designed Mumbai’s main transportation site with the intention of combining Gothic and Indian architecture. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus was also named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004.
