Most popular Indian dessert.

Gulab juman is india’s most popular dessert. It originated in Persia and is similar to Arabic dessert, Luqmat-Al-Qadi. The word derives from the Persian words, “gol” and “ab” which means flower and water. This refers to the dessert’s rose water scented syrup. The word, “Jamun,” derives from the Hindu-Urdu language which refers to “black plum,” a popular Indian fruit. The dish contains either milk solid or khoya mixed with flour and knead into a dough. To make the milk solid, milk has to be stirred over low heat. The dough is then formed into small balls and deep fried. The balls are then dipped into sugar syrup solution flavored with green cardamom and rose water, kewra or saffron. There is a rumor that the dessert was first created by Shah Jahān’s Persian chef, however, there is not enough substantial proof. This delicacy is used for many occasions including birthdays, weddings, festivals, and many more.
