Matar kochuri, also known as Koraishutir Khasta Kochuri, is believed to date back to the lives of the Marwaris in Marwar, India. Kochuri is a popular street food and includes many variations; matar kochuri is the main version and of Bengali cuisine. The ingredients are green peas, flour, bhaja moshla (roasted cumin and red chili powder), sugar, kalo jeera or nigella seeds, garam masala powder, salt, oil, and mustard oil.
